WHAT'S NEW AT PLANET ACE

Here's a quick list of the latest changes, additions, deletions and corruptions on this site.

PRESS RELEASE UPDATE
April 21, 2000

Due to a format change and some other office politics, I have resigned from WFAT. I will no longer be doing mornings effective immediately. I put up a release about it just to answer any rumours that may (and inevitably will) start to surface about this situtation. The good news is that I will have more time to actually do the things I've been wanting to do with this site. So, look for updates soon.

EARTHLY DELIGHTS UPGRADED
December 31, 1999

Still working on redesigning the site. The look of the site won't necessarily be changing much; it will mostly be a change in the way the site is organized. And I'm going to add some more graphics. The site just seems too text-heavy to me at the moment. In the meantime, as a preview of what wonders the site may hold in the future, the Earthly Delights section has been upgraded. Some of the graphics are still a little rough, but I plan to fix them in the near future. I also updated the Geopolitics section since the info on that page had been written during the impeachment debacle. (Don't forget the impeachent in November! Vote those rascally Republicans out of office! *grin*)

FIXED GLITCHES/UPDATED LOGO
December 28, 1999

I still haven't got much done on the redesign yet, but I am working on it. In the meantime, I've fixed a few little bugs and replaced the Wild Card Media info with Twilight Media & Design stuff. No big whoop.

SMALL CHANGES AND UPDATES
December 8, 1999

I know, I know. It's been a long time since I've updated the site. My apologies. I've been trés busy! First of all, I've gotten out of the day-to-day management of Twilight Media & Design (formerly "Wild Card Media"). I've been keeping really busy, though, so Sher (the boss-lady) will owe me lots of bucks. I've been working on developing sites for lots of our clients, including The New World Order, WFAT (which will soon be done by a big corporate monster out of California--*blech!*), and a couple of other radio stations and local companies. In addition, I've been assisting in the development of the new Twilight Media & Design site (it will be a little simpler than I'd like, but it looks nice) and trying to squeeze in a redesign of this whole site. (Obviously, it hasn't happened yet. When it does, it will have all sorts of nifty new features and be much more organized.)

Oh, did I mention that I've also been busy locking down the morning show at WFAT? It's true. Starting in January, I'll be helping wake up Kalamazoo from my new position as the morning producer/anchor at 96.5: The Fat One! I ask that you please please PLEASE call during the show (616-327-9965) to participate. The whole show is based on talking to people, and since the telephone is the most broadcast-friendly way to do that, I prefer that you do it that way.

Now, for the actual changes to the site: I added a press release about the morning show (Hey! We're trying to hire a co-host, so if ya wanna get into radio, here's your chance!) and modified the "Who the Heck is Ace Armstrong?" page a bit to reflect the change. Nothing too exciting, but (as I said), new stuff's a-comin'!

I also discovered that, for legal reasons, I need to register my name as a Service Mark. (That's why you see that silly little "SM" mark all over the place.) This protects me from unauthorized use of my name by other parties, and prevents nasty little surprises (like losing the legal authority to use my own name on the radio or on stage!).

RELOADED/MODIFIED SITE
February 11, 1999

Fortune City seems to have had yet another server problem of some kind, and once again, Planet Ace got temporarily wiped. I've reloaded the site, and fixed a minor link problem, but I haven't gotten to some of the other stuff I want to do lately. I'm in the process of selling all or part of Wild Card Media to a couple of friends, or maybe merging it with their company, so I've been busy. I really have been working on stuff, though, and I've got the "Why We Should Fear the Religious Right" almost ready to post. Woo-hoo! I also added the text of my speech at the Kalamazoo Living Wage Coalition fundraiser to this site, if you're interested. Anyway, if you see anything that got messed up in the reload, let me know and I'll fix it ASAP.

RELOADED SITE
September 22, 1998

Over the weekend, Fortune City apparently had a server problem of some kind, and Planet Ace got temporarily wiped. I couldn't even connect to the FTP server to fix it! They finally seem to have resolved the problem, so I've reloaded the site. I don't think I missed anything, but it's possible. If you find something that seems to be missing, let me know.(And, yes, I know I still have to fix the links for the fiction and essay sections. I'll get to that eventually.)

ADDED SETI PAGE
September 13, 1998

One of the things I'm really excited about is the SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Life) project. Tonight whilst I was browsing the net, I came across information on a great project called SETI@home, a way of helping Project SERENDIP (a SETI program from UC Berkeley). All you do is download the screen saver from their site, and whenever the screen saver runs, your computer analyzes data in the background. You're not even aware it's there. Then, when you make your internet connection, the computer uploads what it's analyzed and downloads a new raw packet from the radio telescope at Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Very cool idea, and a way to possibly be a part of nothing less than the biggest discovery in the history of all mankind. I realized as I saw this that I didn't have anything on my site about SETI! So, I've added an entire page. Please read it. I spent a lot of time on it, and I think it's absolutely fascinating.

MORE CORRECTIONS, INFO ADDED
September 9, 1998

Fixed some more typos and formatting problems, and found out that a couple of simple typos had prevented a lot of the information on both the Geopolitics and Earthly Delights areas. Fixed that! Also added some information to those pages, as well as the World-Wide Links page. I also realized that I have links to some of my software on-line, but I hadn't bothered to put the software itself on. Doh! That should be fixed by the time you read this.

FORMATTING CORRECTED, NEWS ADDED
September 3, 1998

I found some embarassing typos and formating problems, so I fixed those, but I found a bunch more that I haven't had time to fix yet, so I'll get to that ASAP. And, since I find it important to provide an actual service with my site, I've added a news ticker to my site to keep you up to date on the latest news. Please send me your comments and let me know what you think of this feature and the updates in general.

GLOBAL DOMINATION WORKING
August 27, 1998

I've put the first part of the Global Domination information on-line, although I want to add a lot more to it later. I've also made some minor formatic adjustments to a couple of pages and fixed a couple of embarassing typos. There's a lot of that that still needs to be done. Hopefully I'll get some of that done before the week is up. Oh, and I also added a link to this page and a little "This Site Updated On" blurb to the welcome page to make it easier to see what (if anything) has changed.

MORE PAGES BROUGHT ON-LINE
August 26, 1998

I've got most of the site up now. "Skeleton's Closet" and "Absence Of..." are both up for samples of my fiction, and nearly all of the links in the World Stage section are working. I've also added a little bit about myself and this page under "Who the Heck is Ace Armstrong?" and gotten my biography and résumé on-line. I still need to get the "Global Domination" stuff done, and upload some of my airchecks and files for download. All in due time, I'm sure!

BRAND NEW SITE!
August 25, 1998

Well, it appears that the server where the Official Ace Armstrong Home Page has been residing has lost its listing with Internic and is, therefore, unreachable. So, the time has come to move to a new server. And, I thought as long as I was moving, I should go ahead and spruce the place up a bit. After all, the original site was really my first attempt at a home page, and even though it's been updated and jazzed up from time to time, the original design still looked like a first web page. Plus, it was unorganized and unwieldy. So, it's time to say good-bye to the old and say hello to the new. Welcome to Planet Ace!

Most of the stuff on the original site is here (or will be eventually), so you aren't losing anything. In fact, I think you'll find the new design more organized, easier to navigate, and just plain prettier. Please be aware that the move from the old site to the new site (and the conversion from the old design to the new design) is an ongoing process, and will take some time. You might want to bookmark this page to keep up to date with the latest changes.

Currently, Radio Free Ace is up to date. This is the part of the site where you'll find all of the links and essays that have to do with radio and broadcasting in general. There will likely be some added later on, and I'll probably make a special mini-section dedicated to my show on WFAT, but for now I'm concentrating on getting the old stuff converted to the new design before I add anything else.

The World Wide Links are also updated and on-line. (Didn't change much; just reshuffled a few of the science links so they'd be more organized.)

Geopolitics—the serious portion of the site—is converted but not updated. I want to add some stuff about Monica Lewinski, Jeff Fieger, the situation in Afghanistan and genetic engineering, but I haven't had much time to do that yet.

Earthly Delights is also converted, but I want to do some serious work on that particular section of Planet Ace. I want to reorganize it to specify things like games, television, music (including karaoke), computers, etc.
